Apple Store, Fifth Avenue - Grand Opening

More details on Apple’s new Fifth Avenue retail store…

Fifth Avenue store, 24/365

The store is now officially open, time lapse video is available of the first 24 hours of the stores opening. Someone even used the time lapse video to propose. (Hope she’s an Apple fan. )

Fifth Avenue store, 24/365

Steve Jobs was interviewed on CNBC to mark the opening of their new store, which will be open 24/365. Nice. 8)
Comments were also made on the choice to run with Intel chips rather than AMD, and… the iPhone…

The True Cost of CGI

This is an audio interview from December 2005 last year. An interesting view on the state of Hollywood visual effects.

It’s the same story, visual effects seem to be mandatory in today’s movies to woo crowds into the cinema’s, but they also eat into the budget and may force Directors to use a scene that they don’t really want to, or in a way that they’d prefer not to. But of course if the VFX department was setup properly it would allow the Director to have input throughout the course of the creation of the effects.

UnFramed Visual Effects

Another VFX blog, this one looks pretty good with at least a few shot breakdowns posted. Although it looks like updates have slowed down, it might be one to keep an eye on.

Added to the VFX blogroll on the left side of the page, if you see it jump to the top of the list, that means it’s been updated recently.

Photography & Visual Art of Christopher Gilbert

There’s some great work here by Christopher Gilbert. Who is that you ask? Well I didn’t recognize the name either, even though I have seen a few of these images before.

Christopher Gilbert - Photography

I tried to find Christopher’s portfolio site and came accross olivemoon.design, which appears to be his site, although I can’t find any of the images from the other pages on there.

New NYC Apple Store unveiled

This is a real eye-catcher. The actual store is below-ground. This is what you’ll see from the street. (Minus the black covering on the glass.)

Apple MacBook is here!

The much anticipated MacBook has finally arrived. Effectively replacing the iBook line is the new MacBook, featuring Intel Core Duo processors up to 2GHz, a new maximum RAM limit of 2GB, plus all the other goodies!

Apple MacBook

Starting at A$1,749.00 and topping out at A$2,399.00 this little ‘Book seems like a good deal. I just wonder how well it will run Half-Life 2 with that funky Intel GMA 950 graphics processor with 64MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared memory. I bet someone will be figuring that out real soon…

And as always you can count on Kodawarisan to have disassembled the MacBook in a timely and orderly manner.

Who gives a hoot?

Your network printers will be if you get hit with the W32.Hoots worm. This piece of work will print a picture of the O Rly owl on all network printers.

ya rly

Ya Rly.

This has to be the funniest virus/worm I’ve ever heard of.

And not that I’d ever wish for anyone’s computer to become ‘infected’ with any type of unwanted code… but I would love to see any pictures of an office that’s been hit with this one. I can only imagine the looks on people’s faces as the O Rly owl greets them when they come into the office Monday morning.
