This is an audio interview from December 2005 last year. An interesting view on the state of Hollywood visual effects.
It’s the same story, visual effects seem to be mandatory in today’s movies to woo crowds into the cinema’s, but they also eat into the budget and may force Directors to use a scene that they don’t really want to, or in a way that they’d prefer not to. But of course if the VFX department was setup properly it would allow the Director to have input throughout the course of the creation of the effects.
