Essential tutorial for Graphic Designers

This tutorial is essential for any up-and-coming Graphic Designers. Or even anyone who’s thought about making a logo for themselves. I’ll bet that any experienced designers will also agree on the benefits, tips and lessons that can be learned here.

I won’t go on any more, just have a look at the tut: How to create an awesome logo

A new Apple

First people start naming their kids as if they were software revisions. Well the ideas have really run dry folks, fruit is the go.

PostPixel Bandwidth Exceeded

Just a quick note to say sorry for the temporary outage that PostPixel experienced earlier this week.

I was surprised to see that I’d nearly reached my bandwidth usage limit. Then I was even more surprised one morning to see that I had hit the limit.

If anyone’s interested, I’ve posted the stats in a thread on the PostPixel forum.

Shake 4.1 - the end of the line

The node-based compositing app, Shake has seen it’s last version upgrade as it hits 4.1 and is released as a Universal Binary.

advanced digital compositing

Rumors were that Shake would be dropped by Apple as the development team was scaled back. But it’s not the end of Apple’s domination of the high-end compositing market. Replacement software is apparently under development, codenamed Phenomenon. This looks like it’ll be based on the current Motion code, but won’t be released until 2008.

I’ll miss seeing the massive node trees… although I’m sure Apple wouldn’t drop the much-loved node-based solution, unless they’ve come up with something better. ;)

a very small part of the big picture

Oh yes, almost forgot to mention one last change to Shake 4.1. The price. It’s dropped. Previously $4499, Shake 4.1 is now available for $769.
