The node-based compositing app, Shake has seen it’s last version upgrade as it hits 4.1 and is released as a Universal Binary.
Rumors were that Shake would be dropped by Apple as the development team was scaled back. But it’s not the end of Apple’s domination of the high-end compositing market. Replacement software is apparently under development, codenamed Phenomenon. This looks like it’ll be based on the current Motion code, but won’t be released until 2008.
I’ll miss seeing the massive node trees… although I’m sure Apple wouldn’t drop the much-loved node-based solution, unless they’ve come up with something better. 
Oh yes, almost forgot to mention one last change to Shake 4.1. The price. It’s dropped. Previously $4499, Shake 4.1 is now available for $769.
